Since the beginning of this year, the brothers Luuk and Rik Visser have been working on Microlab with their team of 15 m/f. Luuk: “Things were always made on Strijp‑S. Microlab was a TV factory! We want to bring back the making process as a whole. With a place for physical as well as digital.” You already see this ambition in the membership, which, more than two months before opening, already includes a microcomputer start‑up, artisan chocolate maker, software start‑up, producer for the medical industry, furniture maker, architect, graphic designer, bicycle maker and inventor. The idea is to develop the property in phases and allow members to move in accordingly.

“Service and flexibility are absolutely key,” says Rik Visser, “Our objective is to supply everything you need to run your company. Whether it is a workspace, studio or office, you can rely on us. We are already offering a full wood and metal workshop, enterprise‑grade fibre glass network, logistics services and staff on call. And of course there will be room for relaxation in the bar, event space or our indoor basketball pitch.”
When you ask the brothers about the target group, their answer is clear: “Microlab is a haven for wood workers, game developers, neighbours, architects, inventors, students, welders and really anyone who wants to create or wants to learn to create. A home where machines and tools are used every day by people with a passion to make new things. In a combination of craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, modern technology and, above all, creativity.”
